Arrivals and Flashlights

It's 11pm Rome time right now, so this post is going to be rather short.

I departed Weymouth after many many tears on Sunday afternoon, and headed to Heathrow. The flight was long, cold and bumpy- par for the course when it comes to me on very long flights. I was sitting next two a set of twins from BC, also headed to AUR, so I tagged along with them, and the other 8 people in their group, for the rest of the trip. Even though I didn't know them, it was nice to travel with someone, talk to someone, and attempt to translate italian with someone. We got off the plane at DaVinci, got our bags, and attempted to find the AUR group meeting us. They were waiting right outside customs for us, and after waiting a little while, we went off to find our apartments.

I'm living with five other AU girls. Our apartment is larger than anyone thought, and yes, pictures will be up at some point. Kerry and I are sharing the middle bedroom, which happens to be the only one without a balcony. We've had several adventures already today: how to turn the stove on (gas powered with matches), how to go foodshopping in Roma (where you pay for plastic bags), and an ongoing attempt to figure out the heat and water heater. I could be showering in freezing cold water in a few minutes.

My only adventure outside the apartment was for foodshopping, then I made dinner (pasta, of course, with sauteed chicken). The six of us sat around talking, keeping ourselves awake until a decent time to sleep: now.

Tomorrow's agenda: permit to stay application, wandering the city, AUR orientation, hunting down a pub for dinner. Sounds like a great day in Roma.
